Hours Of Service / Electronic Logs

$19.95 month. No Contracts. FMCSA Certified.

The LiveViewGPS Hours Of Service (HOS) application is a Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMSCA) certified, approved and registered phone/tablet-based application for the Electronic Logging Device (ELD) Rule.

Powerful and easy to use, designed for fleets of all sizes, compliant with US Department of Transportation regulations for keeping track of driver driving time, sleeping and awake but-not-driving times as well as electronic forms and vehicle inspections. The application is compliant with US Federal, State and Canadian driving rules, as well as exemptions such as for oil fields are supported.

This app works in conjunction with the LiveViewGPS fully-featured Hours of Service hosted portal that provides the ability to monitor the drivers in the fleet, examine and edit logs as necessary, set up custom inspection categories, view reports, and administer drivers (such as adding or deleting drivers). The portal and tablet stay in synchronization to provide back-office employees a near real-time view of their fleet.

The LiveViewGPS Hours Of Service Application supports:

  • Enhanced and Customized Inspections
  • Portal View Easily Identifies Violations
  • Slip Seat and Team Driving
  • Offline Support - Disconnected Operation
  • Automatic Retry for Loss Of Connectivity With The ELD
  • 2-Way Integration of Portal Edits with the Device Including Full Edit Logging
  • Fully Integrated Portal Backend for Driver Dashboard at Home Office
  • Control Tablet Settings From The Portal, i.e. Disable Driver Log Edits
  • Easy to Use - Minimal Training Required

How Our Solution Works:

Electronic Logs Hours Of Service
  • You Provide Connected Tablet/Phone
  • Purchase ELD Device from Us - Includes Device and Connection Cable
  • Download LiveView HOS Software App
  • Activate Service with Us
  • Connect ELD device to Your Truck's J1939 Port
  • Login to App - Connect ELD to App Via Bluetooth wireless connection

Currently our solution works with all Android Tablets/Phones running version 4.4.2 or later. Your device needs internet connectivity, and on average our application will transfer about 900 mb of data per month back to our servers. We expect an Iphone release Q1 2017.

You purchase the ELD (part # ELD OBDLE) device here. The device plugs into your truck's J1939 port and will communicate via Bluetooth LE with the LiveView HOS app that you've downloaded on your device. The application polls our ELD device via bluetooth every 3 seconds, retrieving pertinent vehicle information.

Once service is activated, you will be assigned a secure account for you to access. You add drivers, and equipment to your account. Driver’s will then be able to log into the LiveViewGPS HOS application on their devices and begin using the service. Once a driver has logged into the application, they simply sync the ELD device with the application and begin using the service.

Low Start-Up Costs:

With our solution, your costs will include the actual ELD device, and the monthly service cost of $19.95 per device. You would be responsible for getting the tablet/phone.

5 Previous Questions

Q:
A:
Q: What hardware is required for an HOS application?
A: A user interface like a tablet in the truck that the driver can log duty status and that a compliance officer can review in lieu of a paper log.

This device must communicate with the JBUS to ensure proper tracking of vehicle mileage and movement.
Q: How does an HOS application fulfill FMSCA 395.15?
A: The rule mandates that Hours of Service logging be performed electronically in order to eliminate the possibility of driver tampering or “adjusting” the driver’s log book. The HOS application must be connected to the vehicles JBUS (SAE J1939/1708) or the OBD II port and track the actual vehicle mileage and movement.
Q: Who Must Comply with the FMCSA Rule 395.15?
A: Most drivers must follow the HOS Regulations if they drive a commercial motor vehicle, or CMV.

In general, a CMV is a vehicle that is used as part of a business and is involved in interstate commerce and fits any of these descriptions:

Weighs 10,001 pounds or more
Has a gross vehicle weight rating or gross combination weight rating of 10,001 pounds or more
Is designed or used to transport 16 or more passengers (including the driver) not for compensation
Is designed or used to transport 9 or more passengers (including the driver) for compensation
Is transporting hazardous materials in a quantity requiring placards

Q: What is an ELD
A: An Electronic Data Recorder is a device that gathers data from the vehicle via a JBUS connection and connects to a user interface like a tablet. Also known as EOBR and AOBRD
Q: What Are Electronic Logs and Hours of Service
A: Hours of Service refers to the truck driver requirement to keep logs of hours driven, off duty, sleeping and other status. It also includes DVIR which refers to the requirement to perform and log vehicle inspections. The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration has mandated that Hours of Service logging for CMV truck drivers change from paper logging to electronic (FMCSA rule 395.15).
